Love Jihad

Love Jihad   is an Islamophobic conspiracy theory alleging that Muslim men target women belonging to non-Muslim communities for conversion to Islam by feigning love.

The Uttar Pradesh Home Department has sent a proposal to the state's Law Ministry for a stringent law to deal with the alleged religious conversion of women in the name of marriage, which BJP leaders refer to as "love jihad".

The draft ‘Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion Bill 2020’ is aimed at curbing the alleged trend of ‘love jihad’ – or an alleged conspiracy, involving the conversion of Hindu women to Islam under the garb of love and marriage.
